The Geomax MX53 was Dunlop's intermediate-to-hard terrain motocross tire, positioned above the MX33/MX3S for harder-packed track conditions. A horseshoe-shaped knob cluster on the front tire was designed to dig into hard-packed dirt for improved braking traction, and Block-In-A-Block construction on both front and rear let individual knobs flex for extra biting edges without sacrificing stability. The front tire used a taller profile for a larger contact patch, giving gentler handling and a higher available lean angle. Dunlop has since introduced the Geomax MX54 as the direct replacement for the MX53 in its current lineup.
