Adventure riding essentially knows no bounds. SHOEI'S Hornet X2 offers serious dual-sport enthusiasts the optimal balance between on- and off-road form and function. Designed to maintain peak performance without compromising the core values of long distance touring, the Hornet X2 is a true all-road, all-weather helmet.

Design Concept

SHOEI'S Hornet X2 was created to be a hybrid of a premium road and off- road helmet. The shape of the mouthpiece and chin bar area is designed to improve air intake and ventilation performance, while giving the rider additional air space needed to accommodate heavy breathing during off-road riding. Improving on the traditional off-road mouthpiece, the Hornet X2 provides additional protection in the event of adverse weather. A multi-stage lower vent shutter allows riders to fine tune airflow for most riding conditions.

Four Shell Sizes

The Hornet X2 features SHOEI'S exclusive Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell construction. The shell is incredibly strong, extremely lightweight, and comes in four shell sizes to ensure a custom fit for heads between sizes XS-2XL.

Emergency Quick Release System

Borrowing technology from SHOEI'S VFX-W and X-Twelve racing helmets, the Hornet X2 is equipped with the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.) that allows emergency medical personnel to easily remove the cheek pads from an injured rider's helmet, thus allowing the helmet to be safely lifted from the head without creating unnecessary neck strain.

V-460 Visor

The Hornet X2 has spent hours of development, both on the road and in SHOEI'S wind tunnel, to achieve the proper balance between aerodynamics and traditional visor functionality. Strategically placed vent louvers work with an innovative wedge shape to allow wind to pass through unobstructed, reducing drag and lift at high speed. Air is pushed into the helmet's upper air intake for optimal cooling. Quarter-turn screws allow for quick and easy tool-less removal and installation.

3D Max-Dry System Ii Interior

The Hornet X2 is equipped with a fully removable, washable, and replaceable 3D Max-Dry System II interior. SHOEI's exclusive Max-Dry System II liner material absorbs and dissipates sweat and moisture twice as fast as traditional nylon interiors, making it ideal for long riding days. The 3D center pad components are three-dimensionally shaped to match the contours of the head, providing a firm yet comfortable fit. 3D-shaped cheek pads are also available in multiple thicknesses for a fully customizable fit.

Ventilation Performance

In designing the Hornet X2, SHOEI utilized its state-of-the-art wind tunnel facility to help develop the optimal balance between airflow, silence and functionality. A large, multi-position lower air intake/defroster optimized for fresh air intake and improved vision. Two shutter-controlled upper air vents offer optimal air intake and head cooling. Four uniquely-positioned rear exhaust outlets to take better advantage of negative pressure suction, and three neck outlet vents work together to yield unrivaled cool air intake and hot air exhaust.

Cns-2 Shield And Qr-N Base Plate

SHOEI's CNS-2 shield offers 99% protection against the sun's damaging UV rays and a distortion-free view, thanks to the 3D injection molding process. Innovative ribs along the top edge improve rigidity and eliminate bending. The Hornet X2's QR-N base plate system facilitates quick and efficient shield changes when on the road. Spring-loaded base plates pull the shield back against the window beading to protect against dust, wind, and rain with every closure.

Dual-Layer/Multi-Density Eps Liner

The Hornet X2's Dual-Layer, Multi-Density EPS liner utilizes varying densities of foam in key areas around the head, providing enhanced impact absorption. Air tunnels created in the EPS liner provide superior ventilation by allowing unrestricted flow of cooling air through and out of the liner. Precise placement of multi-density EPS liner material yields a more compact, lightweight design.
