The Maxxcross Desert IT is Maxxis's desert-racing variant of the standard Maxxcross IT, built for high-speed off-road riding on rocky, sandy, and hardpack terrain. It shares the IT's tread pattern but uses a compound specially engineered to resist chipping and cutting from sharp rocks. A stiffer carcass reduces flex and the chance of pinched tubes, while tall knobs are tuned for traction in loose sand. It is not designed for mud, since the knob spacing does not self-clean well in wet conditions.
