The Maxxcross MX-SM is a soft-terrain motocross tire built specifically for mud and sand racing and used in both AMA Motocross and MXGP competition. It has an extra-rigid scoop tread design with sharp block edges for extreme grip in loose or wet terrain, plus raised half-shoulder knobs that hold traction through sharp corners. The rubber compound is hydrophobic, shedding water and mud rather than packing up, and reinforced sidewalls add a more comfortable ride in rough conditions. It is only offered as a rear tire.
